Tickets, Tickets!! - One of many part series :P
Common fact that tickets are best booked in advance…waiting for great last minute deals is a great risk ,and most of the times it doesn’t work out. Booking hotels early might not exactly be the same. Too early, and you might miss on some seasonal deals which crop up 3 months or 2 months before your travel (you can always call up the website you booked through and ask them for the same in room in the new price, but then you might find other hotels at lower prices too). Best thing to do is make a reservation and choose the pay-at-hotel option (if available). Make sure you have 100% refund on cancellation.
So I have booked my flights now: Found tickets on Easyjet, RyanAir and Jet2 for the routed Manchester-Amsterdam, Rome-Barcelona and Barcelona-Manchester respectively. The first 2 cost 33 and 44 pounds each. The last cost 108 pounds (that’s a lot!). All this without any luggage allowance, obv. I’m still unsure if I’ve to buy extra baggage…I’m planning on just a backpack, but I have my DSLR kit and it’ll be the peak of winter, so extra clothing/padding, etc.
Train tickets I’ll be buying in the middle of the month. Also planning to make reservations by the end of this month through bookings.com - they seem to have awesome deals now and offer pay-at-hotel with zero cancellation charges on most hotels.
Since I’m a solo traveler, I’m planning on booking single rooms throughout. I enjoy privacy and I’m SERIOUSLY unsure how the hostels will be and what sort of people end up being room mates with me! I’m a pretty light sleeper, so snoring is a no-no too :P
That’s it for now..I’ll update in a few days time again!
